Fun, Spontaneous Weekend

Last weekend, we decided on Wednesday night to fly out on Thursday night to see Dad C in Orlando. He works nights for the Big Mouse. So, we entertained ourselves during the day. The funny thing about this picture is my brother in law who is not holding a Pooh has a camera on a extended stick. I could not help laughing. We had to look like the goofiest people sitting there taking our self portrait. Fun!! It does not take much!!!

31 Month Lidversary

We have now waited 31 months. Wow!!! I never even imagined that it would go on this long. The good news is that they finally gave referrals out. For those who are not familiar with Chinese adoptions, there was hold on referrals due to the infamous pig flu. That would be in medical terms-Influenza A(H1N1). There is some hope during these referrals. I guess the hope is I am seeing more people that I have waited side by side in this journey receive their referrals. March 06 was a huge LID month. After that, things should surely speed up. Unless of course, there is another international problem.
Please .....smooth sailing from here.
Anyways, we live on.

Happy Mother's Day 2009

I hope all you moms and moms to be had a wonderful Mother's Day! I had a special one.

I spent my Mother's Day with my own mom, sister, dad, husband, brother in law and nephs. They suprised me with special gifts. I REALLY did not expect anything from anybody. We have waited for Julia so long now that I do not say anymore that this will be the last mother's day without her. My mom gave me a Golden Peony mug with an infuser. It is from one of my favorite shops-Teavana. The mug is named the "Golden Peony". The Song dynasty (960AD to 1276AD) is considered the most important dynasty in Chinese porcelain history. The Ru kiln is praised for creating one of the most precious national treasure of China. Onyx crystals are added to give it a special silken glaze and color. The double peonies represent: good fortune, peace and beauty. The red chop reads "May your life live ten thousand seasons."

I love this mug because my mom wanted it to be special and represent Julia. It now has more meaning to me than you can imagine. My sister told me that she studied the mugs for a long time before she picked the very one that she wanted to get for me.

My sister, brother in law and nephs gave me a gift certificate to Teavana. I love it. I have really grown to appreciate the whole tea experience. It is a nighttime ritual for me now.

Thank you so much!! Thanks for making this Mother's Day special to me.
Happy Mother's Day!! I am so blessed.

Dreams...God Whispers

I just wanted to make sure that I journaled this on our blog. Last week, Jeff woke up telling me that he had a dream that the wait was going to move faster. I asked him about it. One of the things that I did ask was if we were ready. He said "No". I always think that this is funny. We have been waiting so long. When it really does happen, we will be speeding around like we just found that we were going to do this. I guess you are never really ready. You just adjust as it goes.
Last night, our pastor's wife told me that she our daughter in her dreams this past week. The more I thought about it. The more I wished I would have asked her more. She explained you know when you pray for someone so long that you can see them. She could see her face.
In this process, there are always red thread moments, that mean something when you look back. I keep wanting to journal every day to know what was going on the day Julia was born. I cannot wait for her red thread story to continue to unfold.
How do these April dreams of her fit into her story? Can't wait to find out.

Happy Easter 2009!

Happy Easter!!! We started our day with twenty three four year olds in Sunday School. Scott, our co teacher, is discussing the resurrection eggs with the kids. Jeff and I are both there. Then, we went and ate Chinese. That is our normal holiday meal. We went to my sister's house for the big Easter Egg hunt. The nephs are above searching for eggs. The Easter bunny basket was a special gift from my Oct 06 Secret Buddy. They are not so secret anymore. Thanks Smith family!!! (There was a chocolate cross in the basket. Someone -not naming any names-Jeff-ate it immedicately.)
Hope you have a special day with all your families!!

Waiting? Go to New York!

I do not know if you recall but this is the NY trip that I was suppose to go on in December. Since I messed up my knee, we rescheduled it for April. One of my friends turned 40 while we were there. We had a wonderful time. This is our third trip to NY together. We try to go somewhere every year. We all met working in the Emergency department at the hospital that I work at. My two friends are now at two different hospitals. This is how we keep in touch- a weekend in another state. We travel well together. Some say three is a crowd. In this situation, it just works. We had all types of weather-rain for three days and sun for two days. I am standing in Times Square in this picture. I love this city. If I was just getting out of college, I think I would definitely want to live there. I never made it to NY until after I was married and settled. When Julia gets here, I will definitely take her to experience this city when she turns sixteen. One of my friends did that for her girls. I just love that idea.

In honor of my friend's 40th birthday, we atended an off Broadway show called the "Awesome Eighties Prom." It was fun. (These are actors.)

We went to a flea market in Hell's Kitchen. It was a beautiful day. When I go to NY, I like to look at style. Scarfs are in!!! I bought two HERE!! (Skinny jeans are in too. I do not think I will EVER be wearing them. They are skinnier than straightlegs.) OK, that is not the only thing I bought. I bought my first italian leather bag in Soho. I bought makeup because this is the one time of year I do. I also bought a necklace by an artist in Greenwich Village. I bought Julia a book and Year of the Tiger ornament at Pearl River. OK, I also bought a little chinese outfit with a Hello Kitty on it from China town. I got a bargain. Other than that, I tried to be a smart shopper. :)

This is a view from the Empire State Building. Even though this was my third visit to NY, it was my first visit here. It was beautiful. Do you see the Statue of Liberty? (Note: I wore that bright green jacket every day. It was rainy. On the sunny days, it was windy!!! That way my friends could keep up with me.)

Check this out!! The above pictures are of tha Macys Flower Show. It was in Herald Square. We were totally in awe. This is what I love about NY. You never know what you will find around each corner.

The above picture is of Central Park. We spent about an hour sitting in the park. It was so beautiful. I just loved the cab picture. I caught that as I was walking down 5th Avenue. I cannot wait for our next trip. We always have so much fun. Hope you enjoyed a peek into my weekend!

Happy 40th Birthday-Sister!

My sister is 40 today!! She is going to be a great Aunt to Julia. We had an exciting day today. We went to the oldest nephew's first tball game. It was a wonderful, beautiful day. Check out the neph's first run to home plate. The youngest nephew had fun hanging out watching "brudder".

Every game, the oldest neph gets a ticket for the concession stand. This was an exciting moment. He picked a "every flavor slushi" (I would refer to it as a rainbow ice cone. ) I love the picture that I caught with Jeff and the youngest nep. They look like they are in deep conversation. It looks like it will be a fun season!
