Big Day: Surgery

Dear Julia-
Your palate surgery was on January 30, 2012.  What can we say?  Again, you were so brave.  Mama and Daddy were so proud of you.  We drove to the Birmingham up the night of the 29th.  Goggy and Pappy came up on the 30th.  We were at Children's Hospital at 7am.  You never once asked for a drink.  We took you in your froggie jammies.
While we were in preop, you had a great time.  There were lots of little cars to ride.  This is one of two that you.  We also met another little girl from China.  Once you went into surgery, we waited for you.  They called us many times to let us know you were doing well.
When you got out of surgery, your recovery room nurses said that you were the sweetest little girl.  Mama held you.  She gave you apple juice from a syringe.  You just drank it.  I carried you to your room.  Mama held you all night while you slept.  We would lay down in the chair that became a bed.  We watched movies.  We fed your baby.  You had medicine to help you with your pain.   You wore princess sleeves to remind you not so suck your fingers.  You did so good.
When you were feeling a little better and and ate a little ice cream, we headed to the Lily Pad for some artwork and play.  You loved it.
After two nights, Dr Grant said you could go home.  We got you ready to go home.  It was a long ride home with your princess sleeves on.
Once we got home, Mama and Daddy took care of you.  We are just so proud of you baby girl. You were such a trooper.
Clare and Kate, one of your chinese sisters, sent you beautiful flowers.  The sunflowers represented you, Kate and Kara. They are so excited to see you again in August.

Julia, we love you so very much.  You are the sweetest, bravest little girl we know.  We are so proud to be your parents.

Love, Mama and Daddy
