A ladybug is a symbol of luck in the Chinese adoption community. Even though this belief is not found in the Chinese culture, red is the Chinese color of good luck. One fall in the 90's, there was a giant population of the Chinese beetle(ladybug) in the Guangzhou, China area. Guangzhou, China is the last stop for all adopting parents from China. This large ladybug population explosion was thought to be a lucky omen for many adopting families flowing into China.
